Delayed inflammatory reaction 12 years after PAAG injection
Polyacrylamide hydrogel (PAAG) was initially considered to be a compatible, non-toxic, non-biodegradable material. However, recent studies have shown that numerous adverse events occur after using this permanent filler. The incidence of complications following PAAG injection has been reported to be about 6.7%.Herein, we report a 32-year-old female who developed an infla...
متن کاملInflammatory reaction to foreign body (amalgam) in the maxillary sinus misdiagnosed as an ethmoid tumor.
A patient with chronic unilateral maxillary sinusitis caused by a foreign body (dental amalgam) and mistaken diagnosis of extensive ethmoid neoplasm is presented. The imitation of tumour symptoms was due to a long presence of foreign body in the maxillary sinus and chronic inflammation of maxillary, ethmoid and sphenoid sinuses.
متن کاملInflammatory Reaction as Determinant of Foreign Body Reaction Is an Early and Susceptible Event after Mesh Implantation
PURPOSE To investigate and relate the ultrashort-term and long-term courses of determinants for foreign body reaction as biocompatibility predictors for meshes in an animal model. MATERIALS AND METHODS Three different meshes (TVT, UltraPro, and PVDF) were implanted in sheep. Native and plasma coated meshes were placed bilaterally: (a) interaperitoneally, (b) as fascia onlay, and (c) as muscle...
متن کاملA Mysterious Pacemaker Suture: An Uncommon Foreign Body Reaction
Surgical suture material is usually inert and nontoxic and causes minimal inflammation of tissue. However, foreign body reactions to various suture types can lead to granuloma, abscess, or even sinus formation. We report an elderly female who was incidentally detected to have a mass protruding from the incision site which was confirmed histopathologically a chronic granulomatous reaction to non...
متن کاملSarcoidal Type Foreign Body Reaction: A Case Report
Sarcoidosis and foreign body reactions are common differential diagnoses of skin granuloma formation. We report a 40 year –old man with sarcoid type granulomas containing polarized foreign materials, and also bilateral hilar adenopathy. It appears that detection of foreign bodies in histopatologic studies of granulomas does not necessarily exclude the possibility of sarcoidosis.
